CFD will “Hit the Streets” this weekend to campaign and gather signatures in order to qualify our endorsed candidates for the Democratic Primary ballot.

Also, more information is emerging about the dangers of lead that would be created by the construction at Park West Village and Douglass Houses. At long last, the Environmental Review is under way at Park West Village and a Public Hearing is set for Thursday, June 27, after which CFD’s June meeting will feature Assemblymember Linda B. Rosenthal’s summary of this year’s Legislative Session in Albany. Please read below to learn more.

Holy Name Auditorium, Amsterdam Ave between 96th & 97th Streets
Civil rights attorney Norman Siegel interviews Gerald Markowitz and David Rosner, co-authors of Lead Wars: The Politics of Science and the Fate of America’s Children. This will be a book signing and forum on the political implications and health impacts of lead in our community. Stunningly high levels of lead have been measured in our neighborhood and we could all suffer from negative health impacts should development move forward at Jewish Home Lifecare or Frederick Douglass Houses.

The NYS Department of Health has ordered a full environmental impact review of the proposed construction of Jewish Home Lifecare on the current Park West Village parking lot on 97th Street.
