The CFD meeting on Thursday, November 20, will be a joint meeting with PRID (Park River Independent Democrats).

Note that the meeting will be held at the community room of Schwab House, 285 West End Avenue at 73rd Street.

PRID is honoring former mayor David Dinkins, who is expected to arrive at 7:50 PM. CFD has invited a speaker from New Yorkers Against Gun Violence, whom we expect to introduce at 8:30 PM. We are asking CFD members to come at our club's usual start time of 7:30 PM. PRID and CFD have also invited Ansonia club members to join us for this exciting meeting as well.

Please help us spread the word to everyone you know in the club and to anyone else who might be interested.

Election Day 2014 - Upper West Side

ELECTION2014StringerSchumerCongratulations to CFD's Eric Schneiderman on his overwhelming re-election as New York's Attorney General!

The full slate of CFD endorsed candidates won their elections in an otherwise tough year for Democrats. On to 2016.

November 2 - Campaign with Eric, Jerry, Scott, Linda and Supporters

Campaign with Eric Schneiderman: Sunday, Nov. 2, at 12:45 p.m., in front of Fairway on Broadway between West 74th and 75th Streets.

Our Congressman Jerry Nadler, City Comptroller Scott Stringer, Assembly Member Linda B. Rosenthal, Community Free Democrats, our sister political clubs and many of your neighbors will campaign with Attorney General Eric Schneiderman as he seeks re-election.

RSVP to District Leader Joan Paylo, cfdjoan@aol.com.

eric-schneiderman

If you watched the NYS Attorney General Debate Thursday night, you heard our AG Eric Schneiderman's Republican opponent snidely slam Eric's Upper West Side roots two or three times early on in the debate.

Let's fight back.  Votes from the Upper West Side alone could make or break Eric's margin of victory.

Please join CFD, community leaders and members of other Westside political clubs at Fairway on Sunday to demonstrate our support for our "hometown hero" Eric Schneiderman.

Support our own Attorney General Eric Schneiderman at the rally and on Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 4.  As the "People's Lawyer," he defends a woman's right to choose, crusades for gun safety, sees that financial institutions pay for their misdeeds, litigates for workers' rights, pressures upstart businesses like Uber and airbnb to abide by State Law, and that's just for starters.

October 10 - Voter Registration Deadline

Tell your family, friends and co-workers:

This Friday, Oct. 10, 2014, is the last day to register to vote in the General Election on Tuesday, Nov. 4.

Applications must be postmarked no later than Oct. 10, or you can register in person by close of business Oct. 10 at the Board of Elections offices at 200 Varick St., 6th floor, open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

You may download a Voter Registration Application from the Board of Elections web site – www.vote.nyc.ny.us – and mail it in by the deadline.  Or, if you have a NYS Drivers License, you can register online at www.my.dmv.ny.gov/crm/ by following instructions on the State's site.

Our Attorney General Eric Schneiderman has a vocal and well-funded opponent, and we want to get as many votes as possible for Governor Cuomo on the Democratic Line so that the Upper West Side and CFD can keep our strong, weighted voting power in County Committee, State Committee and Judicial Conventions for the next four years.

Please help us get the word out.

Campaign for Adriano, Friend of Tenant Protections and Foe of 'Fracking

Come, join CFD members to campaign for longtime friend and endorsed candidate of our club, State Sen. Adriano Espaillat. This is one of the few races for local office in Manhattan, and it's crucial that we turn out the Westside vote for him. Jerry Nadler, Scott Stringer and Linda B. Rosenthal have endorsed him.

We need you in the next few days to hand out lit at subway stops and staff phone banks right here in our neighborhood. If you can help out morning or evening on Thursday, Sept. 4, or any other time, please contact CFD District Leaders Marc Landis (marclandis@gmail.com) or Joan Paylo (cfdjoan@aol.com). And stand by for further news.

Earn $200 as a Poll Worker

October 23 - CFD Membership Meeting

Community Free Democrats Monthly Meeting

Thursday, October 23, 2014, 7:30 p.m.
Goddard Riverside Community Center, 593 Columbus Ave. (at 88th Street)

What is Prop 1 and Why Must We Vote No on Prop 1 on November 4?
Last-minute addition:  Josh Kross, one of the PS 163 parents leading the fight against the massive proposed JHL construction project next to the elementary school on W. 97th Street, will explain how we can help their efforts.

Be part of a critical conversation with activists who are fighting to defeat this ballot proposal. Claiming to be re-districting reform, Proposal 1 will enshrine unfair partisan practices in the state constitution.
